Top 10 Posts of 2021

by Marina Ingrit

It’s that time of year again to reflect back on what was accomplished. I’m not just talking about me and this blog, but all of you too. I think it is a good exercise for everyone. It’s easy to feel like your year was unproductive, or that you didn’t get as much done as you would have liked. But when you look back and focus on what you DID do, you realize you were kind of a rock star afterall. It’s kind of like counting your blessings 🙂

This was a hard year for me personally. Lots of trials and stress. Well, the last half of the year to be more specific. Most of my home goals and my blog goals were left undone and I have been feeling discouraged. But I am proud of what little I did get done and I am looking forward to a new year.

Here are my top 10 post in no particular order!

Backyard Gate

I have been sooooo happy having this gate. It has kept dogs out and kept my chickens safer. The added privacy has been awesome too. I wish we would have done this YEARS ago.

Propagating a Fiddle Leaf Fig

I was so scared the first time I cut the top of my fiddle. I have now since done it 2 more times since it won’t stop growing and hitting the ceiling. It was so fun watching the new roots grow. It’s just as easy as propagating any other plant!

Headboard With Storage

This was my first set of building plans that I have offered on the blog. It was quite the learning experience and I was grateful that Shane was able to help. I have been so excited that so many of you have downloaded it! Email me if you end up building it. I would love to see your versions!

Visiting Yellowstone

I shared our latest trip to Yellowstone and debuted my YouTube channel. I have had fun learning the ins and outs of video and hope to improve this year.

Budget Bedroom Makeover

This was one of my all time favorite projects this year. I had so much fun giving this sweet couple a new bedroom! I love a challenge, and it was definitely challenging to keep within the tight budget given the high price of lumber.

Wood Strip Canoe

While this wasn’t my DIY project, I was so proud of my son for completing such a hard build. He cut every strip out and designed the plans for this canoe himself. I can’t wait for winter to be over so we can take it out on the water again.

House Plant Care

It’s no secret that I love plants. I want everyone to have some in their home but I know that a lot of people are intimidated by caring for houseplants. I tried to break it down so that hopefully more of you feel comfortable with adding some plants into your home.

Summer Ready Patio

The patio is one of my favorite places so as soon as it is warm enough, I get out there and clean it up. This year I refreshed the sliding wall with a new coat of stain and the planters got a new coat of paint as well.

How to Drill a Drainage Hole

Once you know how to drill a drainage hole in glass and ceramic, any container can be turned into a planter! The possibilities are endless.

Laundry Room Makeover

This laundry room was one of the fastest makeovers I have completed. A weekend project for sure! And I was able to get it done for very little money. Most of the budget was put into the shoe cabinet, which was totally worth it!

I’d love to hear what kinds of projects you accomplished this year. Tell what you are most proud of down in the comments below!
